Billing and Limits

Understand image permissions, billing, and common limits.

Image workloads may have separate permission and billing behavior from text workloads.

Permissions

  • OpenAI Images API requires an OpenAI group.
  • The group must allow image generation.
  • Gemini image generation requires a Gemini group and a Gemini image-capable model.

Billing

Image generation can be billed by image count, image size, model, and output image tokens depending on the provider path. Usage logs may include image count, image size, and image output token fields.

Common Limits

  • Model does not support image generation.
  • Group does not allow image generation.
  • Endpoint is not supported for the selected platform.
  • Request body is too large for image input.
  • Streaming image output may have longer timeouts than normal text streams.
